The aftermath and remnants of Hurricane Matthew are still being felt in the Marion County communities.  The effects of this natural disaster are far reaching and wide.  Even in the midst of the chaos, individuals and groups of people came together to help provide assistance, along with a helping hand during this time of need.  On the Tuesday following the Hurricane, many families and individuals were without various daily necessities, including water.

As a recent transplant into the community, Coach Quin McCollum was compelled to help aid during this tragedy. He was not alone in his efforts. He mobilized the football team in an “all hands on deck” effort to give back. Through contacts, outreach, and networking they were able to lend a hand to those in the community that were in need.  Coach McCollum, Board Chair Cynthia Legette, District Parent Liaison Georgette Washington and County Council Elista Smith were instrumental in delivering water many citizens in Marion County.

In addition to this effort, Assistant Football and head varsity boys Basketball Coach, Brian Scott delivered a pallet of water to Marion high School to assist in a joint effort of Marion County School district and Red Cross relief efforts at Marion High school. On Thursday, Marion, Mullins, and Creek Bridge football teams along with Marion High School Head Football Coach Quin McCollum, Creek Bridge Head Football Coach Jimmy Vereen and Mullins Assistant Football Coach Donald Brown as well as Marion High School Principal, Daris Gore; in partnership with the Little Pee Dee Baptist Association gave out cleaning supplies, tools, clothing, water, and food boxes to those in the community.
